In full alignment with the University’s strategic priorities, the DBBCD, through its departmental strategic planning, aims to contribute to the creation of public value by generating new knowledge made possible through both basic and applied research, the development of applications derived from it, and the transmission of knowledge through high-quality education (both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as in doctoral programs and advanced training) and through activities aimed at disseminating and communicating research results to the general public and stakeholders (businesses, public institutions, teachers). The fundamental objective is to bring together diverse disciplinary expertise that serves to strengthen the DBBCD’s mission, both in the short and long term. This mission can be divided into the three distinct yet closely intertwined pillars of teaching, research, and the third mission, and can be summarized by the following characteristics:
- Multidisciplinary and cross-cutting within the University;
- Closely tied to the local community in terms of both research contexts and undergraduate teaching;
- Dedicated to both basic and applied research;
- Open and a leader in internationalization;
- Particularly focused on the student-centered approach;
- Receptive to innovations in teaching and research;
- Committed to maintaining an optimal faculty-student ratio;
Making an impact on regional development through scientific and educational contributions (e.g., first- and second-level master’s programs, as well as the participation of its members in national and international evaluation committees);
Engaged in direct contact with the worlds of education and work, with a growing commitment to Third Mission activities.
