Cultural Heritage

The Department has a library consisting of three service areas with reading rooms and group study rooms (Anthropology, Entomology, Via dei Sardi) and three study rooms in external locations (Comparative Anatomy, Zoology, Physiology), for a total of 176 reading places.
The bibliographic collection, housed in various locations, consists of approximately 39,000 books and 50,000 periodical issues and is dedicated to the Department's disciplinary and study areas. It also has the Museums of Comparative Anatomy (Director: Prof. R. Castiglia) and Zoology (Director: Prof. P. Audisio).
The Department organizes cultural activities at these facilities, promoting science and enhancing the historical and artistic heritage.
In 2017, the BBCD Department curated the exhibition "DNA. The Great Book of Life from Mendel to Genomics" at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, which was a great success (approximately 90,000 visitors). These are the activities for the five-year period 2015-2020.
